After last year's successful concert tour, the renowned Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is touring through Europe again. As a musical ambassador of its small home country, the orchestra stops at the legendary Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, the Smetana Hall in the Art Nouveau ensemble of the Prague Municipal House, Wiesbaden's luxurious Kurhaus and the monumental Dome Hall of the Hannover Congress Centrum.
19-year-old violin virtuoso Daniel Lozakovich, whose career experienced a spectacular take off when, in 2015, he began a close artistic collaboration with Valery Gergiev, is featured as the concert's guest star. At the age of only fifteen, Lozakovich signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon and is now internationally acclaimed as a virtuoso who captivates audiences with the sheer magic of his extraordinarily mature interpretations. This is exactly what it takes to be a soloist in Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Violin Concerto, one of the most popular concerts of its kind. Lozakovich is also playing the solo part in Alexey Shor's "Phantasm".
The violin concerto by Malta's most frequently performed contemporary composer is a striking, melodious bravura piece that proves why Shor's compositions are appreciated by top orchestras and famous soloists worldwide.
Sergey Smbatyan, Chief Conductor of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, has received many awards and regularly performs with internationally renowned orchestras. The young Armenian maestro Smbatyan is going to interpret Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" as the great finale of the concert. The symphonic poem on motifs from 1001 Nights is, without any doubt, one of the most sensual and exciting compositions that Russian Orientalism ever produced. An outstanding programme of masterpieces that can be defined as one of the great highlights of the European concert season.
