The Russian pianist Denis Matsuev was born in 1975 into a musical family in Irkutsk, Siberia. His father took charge of his initial training until, at the age of 15, Denis continued his piano studies in Moscow with Alexei Nasedkin and Sergei Dorensky. After winning the Tchaikovsky Competition in 1998, Matsuev received invitations to perform all over the world. Ever since, he has appeared as a guest artist at the Ravinia Festival, the Hollywood Bowl, the BBC Proms, the Edinburgh Festival, the Maggio Musicale in Florence, and La Roque d’Anthéron Piano Festival. He performs regularly with major orchestras and conductors: in the 2018-19 season, for example, he appeared with the New York and Munich Philharmonics and the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev, the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics under Mariss Jansons, the Israel Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta, the Dresden Staatskapelle and Christian Thielemann, the London Symphony Orchestra under Gianandrea Noseda, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin, the Filarmonica della Scala and Riccardo Chailly, the London Philharmonic and Yuri Temirkanov, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal under Kent Nagano, and the Orchestra del Teatro San Carlo in Naples under Neeme Järvi.

At the invitation of the Rachmaninoff Foundation, he has played works by the composer on Rachmaninoff’s own concert grand at the Villa Senar near Lucerne. He serves as Artistic Director of the Stars on Baikal and Astana Piano Passion. Since 2008, he is the Chairman of the New Names Foundation, which supports the emerging musical generation in Russia. Matsuev is a recipient of the Shostakovich Prize, the Russian State Prize for Literature and Arts, and the Order of Honor.  He is a “People’s Artist of Russia”, UNESCO Ambassador, and an Honorary Professor of the Moscow Conservatory.

One of the greatest violinists of all time

“Who says it has to be beautiful? Is nature always beautiful? Nature is beautiful because it’s not always how we expect it to be.” - Maxim Vengerov

Maxim Vengerov is considered to be one of the greatest violinists of all time. His radiant interpretations, the intensity of his sound, the great dramatic quality of his renditions and the exuberant musicality of his playing are rooted in the great tradition of the Russian violin school. In the course of his international career, Vengerov already played in the most important halls of the world. Despite his international fame, Maxim Vengerov is not an artist who rests on his laurels. Instead, he always thinks outside the box of classical-romantic repertoire, explores the possibilities of his instrument in search of new inspirations and involves himself in projects embracing genres such as jazz and rock.

    [/vc_text_img][vc_text_img text_img_config="image-text-var" text_background="text-background-white" alignment_horizontal="left" alignment_vertical="center" image="452"]

An encounter with harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock in Salzburg led Vengerov to study the baroque violin, in order to be able to play early music in a historically informed way. Vengerov worked with superstars such as Yehudi Menuhin and Carlo Maria Giulini. Encouraged by his mentors Mstislaw Rostropovich and Daniel Barenboim, Vengerov took lessons with conductor Vag Papian and has been conducting himself since 2007. Both as a soloist and conductor, Vengerov has performed with such distinguished orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, and the symphony orchestras of Chicago, Montreal and Toronto.

Vengerov is also passionately committed to supporting young talents, which he teaches at major music schools around the world. Born in Novosibirsk, he began his studies at the age of five with the famous teacher Galina Tuchaninova in Moscow. Later he studied with Zakhar Bron and won the first prize in the Karol Lipiński and Henryk Wieniawski Young Violin Player Competition at the age of ten. Maxim Vengerov is currently one of the most sought-after violinists worldwide. He plays the ex-Kreutzer Stradivarius of 1727.

Musical genius and superstar on the bayan

"You can play simply everything on the bayan – from classical music to rock, from Bach to Rammstein!" - Aydar Gaynullin

Aydar Gaynullin is more than a master on the bayan, he is a musical genius and gifted entertainer. On the Eastern European chromatic button accordion Gaynullin is able to perform the most demanding Toccatas by Bach, tangos by Piazzolla, popular Csárdás tunes or even "We will rock you" by Queen – apparently there is no musical style too difficult for this energetic musician. Gaynullin seems to get pleasure in conquering new genres, surprising his audiences with his technical skills, creating magical landscapes of sound as well as exploring rhythmic extravagances and effective outbursts.

    [/vc_text_img][vc_text_img text_img_config="image-text-var" text_background="text-background-white" alignment_horizontal="center" alignment_vertical="center" image="719"]

Experiencing Aydar Gaynullin in live concerts is a true sensation. His fingers run over the buttons of his instrument with athletic power at breathtaking speed. Besides his own compositions, Gaynullin electrifies classical music, tango, jazz, ethno-folk, rock and experimental music and performs in crossover projects. The diversity of his music could not be more distant from superficiality. His renditions of pieces from the most diverse epochs and origins is always marked by profound musicality and creative seriousness.

The Tatar artist received a scholarship from the International Charitable Foundation "New Names" in 1992, followed by an award by the Russian Cultural Fund and an inscription into the "Golden Book" of the Russian President in 1994. From 1996 to 2000 Gaynullin studied with Andrei Ledenjow and then with Prof. Fridrich Lips. In 2003 Gaynullin was elected honorary member of the conservatory in Kaunas (Lithuania). In 2005 he graduated with distinction from the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music (Prof. F. Lips). In 2008 he graduated from the "Hanns Eisler" Academy of Music (Prof. Gudrun Wall) in Berlin where he lives together with his family.

    Sound innovator and ingenious arranger

The music is the most important thing to me. - Roman Kim

Internet star and breathtaking virtuoso. Sound innovator and witty arranger. The young violinist and composer Roman Kim is not only a multi-talent, but also a typical artist of our time. In addition to a flawless technique, which we all presuppose in a good violinist, Roman Kim has the daring and musicality for the specific virtuoso repertoire a la Paganini that liberates such works from the odour of the exclusively superficial. Roman Kim has a direct musical approach to this music, his own compositions reveal him as a gifted and conscious successor of Paganini.

In 2010 Roman Kimreleased his first video project as a solo violinist. The then 19-year-old transcribed the Air by Bach from the 3rd Orchestra Suite and adapted all four parts of Bach's score to a single violin. Instrumentally - a considerable challenge, musically - a pleasure. The arrangement became a hit and attracted the attention and recognition of thousands and thousands of violinists and music lovers.

    [/vc_text_img][vc_text_img text_img_config="image-text-var" text_background="text-background-white" alignment_horizontal="center" alignment_vertical="center" image="729"]

The cooperation with the music publisher "Bärenreiter" finally brought a proud confirmation of value. The Bachs Air, arranged by Roman Kim, was published in April 2015. The demand was great and the first edition was sold out within a few months.

Roman Kim's music is romantic, melodic and virtuoso. In his compositions, the artist discovers the boundless world of his instrument and brings many innovations to the sound possibilities of the violin. His paraphrases "I Brindisi" on Verdi's themes (published in 2013) strengthened his reputation as Paganini's "epigones". In April 2017 Roman Kim's "Three Romances" for violin and piano were published by "Bärenreiter".

Roman Kim received his first violin lesson at the age of five and at seven years old won first prizes in national competitions, which led him to the Central Music School in Moscow in 2000. With a scholarship from the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation (2001 - 2008), he began taking lessons from Maxim Vengerov in 2007 and attended master classes with Midori Goto, Lewis Kaplan, Miriam Fried and Gidon Kremer, while continuing to give concerts in major halls in Russia, Western Europe and South Korea. In 2008, Roman Kim was accepted at the age of 16 at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, where he studied with Prof. Viktor Tretyakov.

“I come from a musical family: my father was a music teacher, my mother in the accordion class. That's how they met and I'm the result.” - Peter Dranga

Anyone who thinks the accordion is only an instrument for placid folk evenings and lovers of amateur music has never heard Peter Dranga. The young Russian with the looks of a Latin lover rescued the traditional folk instrument out of its dusty corner and took it on a journey to a completely new sphere of music. Whenever Dranga plays and sings in sold out shows and up-to-date music videos, he shows his breathtaking ability to reinterpret Russian songs, tangos or even Vivaldi's "Four Seasons", turning them upside down and making them sound as fresh, cosmopolitan and edgy, as if you were listening to them for the first time.

Drangas own compositions are a fascinating creative puzzle. He mixes influences from nostalgic musette waltzes, techno or pop songs from Radiohead, Muse and Nirvana, converting them into something completely new. Whether in solo programs, in concerts with his band or accompanied by symphony orchestras – Dranga's breathtaking virtuosity, his easy-going flirt with musical styles, his sense of drama and show as well as his sensual, smoky voice take audiences by storm.

    [/vc_text_img][vc_text_img text_img_config="image-text-var" text_background="text-background-white" alignment_horizontal="center" alignment_vertical="center" image="718" el_class="Testtext will er herein?"]

Peter Dranga was born in Moscow into a family of musicians: his father was a professor at the Gnessin Music Institute, his mother the director of the Slakdislov Music School. He started playing the accordion as a child and was accepted at the Richter Music School in 1990. Soon he began arranging pieces from different genres for his instrument. Intelligent interpretations with feeling

"The noble sound he produces on the instrument called cello simply impresses everyone." - Vladimir Perlin

The human voice has always been considered the ideal of every instrumental interpretation. Mikhail Radunski's playing is proof of how true this is. Radunski plays his cello, making it sing and impressing with his sensual, intelligent interpretations, the precision of his tone and his technical versatility. The young, Belarusian cellist, teacher and winner of international competitions is a regular participant of important festivals such as the “Yuri Bashmet International Festival” in Minsk or the "Musica Mundi" festival in Belgium, where he also works as a teacher.

    [/vc_text_img][vc_text_img text_img_config="image-text-var" text_background="text-background-white" alignment_horizontal="center" alignment_vertical="center" image="664"]

In 2016 Radunski made his debut on the stage of the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels under Maxim Vengerov as the conductor of the Belgian National Orchestra. He has played with Vengerov on several occasions and performed together with Olga Peretyatko. Radunski does not only interpret symphonic repertoire but also solo and chamber music. As a curious musician who likes to experiment with genres and musical styles, he is also successful in various cross-over projects. His collaboration with the Belarusian pianist, singer and participant of the Eurovision Song Contest Yan Yarosh attracted special attention. Together they played titles by Sting, John Lennon or Robbie Williams in a style, elegantly combining pop and classical music.

Mikhail Radunksi has performed in his home country, Poland, Russia, China, France and Germany. He was born in Minsk and educated in the class of the renowned pedagogue Vladimir Perlin at the State Academy of Music. He has been teaching there himself and assisting his former teacher in the last years.

    Magician of unlimited sound

"I never saw the balalaika as a Russian folk instrument. It simply allows me to play whatever I want!" – Alexey Arkhipovsky

Alexey Arkhipovsky is a true magician of sound. Critics around the world compare his achievements on the balalaika with the innovations that Niccolò Paganini brought to the violin and the revolution that Jimmie Hendrix started on the guitar. After his participation in the "Zomerjazzfietstour" in Groningen, the Dutch newspaper "De Volkskrant" compared him to guitar heroes such as Jeff Beck and Steve Vai. And indeed, playing his electrically amplified instrument with unlimited creativity and breathtaking technique, Arkhipovsky enters a sphere of unlimited possibilities that had never been heard before on the Russian balalaika.

    [/vc_text_img][vc_text_img text_img_config="image-text-var" text_background="text-background-white" alignment_horizontal="center" alignment_vertical="center" image="691" el_class="Testtext will er herein?"]

The musician, officially declared "the world's best balalaika soloist" by the Russian edition of the Guinness Book of Records in 2011, developed his unique technique on his own, combining elements of traditional and guitar playing. With exquisite taste and fine irony, his compositions open the door to a mesmerizing cosmos full of poetry, crystalline sounds and dreamlike melodies. In spite of the many inspirations he draws from Russian folklore, jazz, early, classical and even electronic music, Arkhipovsky's music is never superficial. It touches the listener with deep melancholy and an almost painful beauty that is typically Russian.

Arkhipovsky's concerts are planned with dramaturgical accuracy, putting a focus on the music that effortlessly captivates the audience. As a musician who does not fit into any genre, Arkhipovsky can be seen and heard regularly at festivals of classical, world music, folklore and jazz in Russia and abroad, as well as in radio and television stations worldwide.

Alexey Arkhipovsky was born in Tuapse (1967) and began playing the balalaika at the age of nine. Trained at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow, he was awarded at the competition for folk instruments in Russia (1985) became a member of the Smolensk Folk Orchestra after completing his studies and went on tour with the State Folk Ensemble Rossiya. In 2002 Arkhipovsky started his solo career which takes him around the globe.

"There are many young promising cellists today, the level of performance has become unprecedentedly high. However one could say that the essence of music making has changed over time and the level of technical performance has superseded the importance of musical expression. I have followed Liav Kerbel for many years and am happy to witness his complete devotion towards the quality of musicianship and technique as a whole, not sacrificing one for the other. I find Liav to be a young exceptional musician as well as having  become a young promising cellist!"
