SUMI JO

Both in concerts and a the recording studio, Sumi Jo moves playfully moves between classical and pop, musical and song. With great passion she participates in crossover projects, in which she demonstrates her great vocal and stylistic versatility. Her crossover album “Only Love” sold over 1,200,000 copies. Sumi Jo is invited to major events around the globe. For example, she gave rise to storms of enthusiasm at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi (2014), sang at the opening ceremony of the Winter Asian Games in the Kazakh capital (2011) and at the opening ceremony of the IAAF World Championship in Daegu (2011). She performed with Jonas Kaufmann, Renée Fleming and Dmitri Hvorostovsky as part of the program of the Olympic Games in Beijing, gave a Christmas concert with José Carreras in Barcelona, toured Asia with the Academy of Ancient Music and performed at the Tribute Concert in honour of Maria Callas at Lincoln Center (New York). She sang at the “Life Ball 2017” in Vienna, at Andrea Bocelli's “Celebrity Fight Night in Italy 2017” as well as on the occasion of the 125^th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas, at the Teatro de Cristóbal Colón in Colombia and at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. As a classical singer who devotes herself entirely to her audience, she can be heard in the most important houses and concert halls of Canada, the United States, Asia and Australia. Sumi Jo is also involved in recording award-winning film music, for example for the Italian film “Eternal Youth” by Paolo Sorrentino.
