  A CONCERT FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS

  For the first time, Maxim Vengerov and Evgeny Kissin play together – at the Dubai Opera.

  The 1986 opening concert of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition was an extraordinary event. After the spectacular performance of Maxim Vengerov and Evgeny Kissin, the critics were overwhelmed to such an extent that they asked themselves if a competition was still needed. They clearly had the feeling that they had already heard the winners. Today, the former child prodigies belong to the most important contemporary artists. Interestingly enough, until now, they have never given a concert together. Therefore, their performance at the Dubai Opera is nothing less than a historic event. Seeing and hearing these two titans of classical music playing together is a unique opportunity not to be missed!

  Masterpieces of all time

  All about this concert promises to be spectacular. During their reunion, on March the 28th, Maxim Vengerov and Evgeny Kissin will perform some of the best and most demanding masterpieces ever written for their instruments. Vengerov will play Johann Sebastian Bach's Chaconne in D minor, a sublime gem of the violin solo repertoire which merges the form and the spirituality into sounds of mysterious sensuality and depth. The piece for violin and piano “Lonely sail” by the Maltese-American composer Alexey Shor is going to be a melancholic counterpart to Bach's music, an expression of contemporary beauty and aesthetics reflected by the architectural audacity of the Dubai Opera.

  As one of the most important interpreters of Frédéric Chopin's music, Evgeny Kissin will render both the Polish composer's Impromptu in G-flat Major and his famous Polonaise in A-flat major. Juxtaposing the romantic Impromptu and the heroic Polonaise, he will shed light on two important facets of the composer's oeuvre. Concluding the spectacular programme, the two musicians will perform Johannes Brahms's magnificent Second Sonata, called a “Sonata of love and songs” by the composer's biographer Max Kalbeck. The music written on the shores of Lake Thin in Switzerland is indeed overflowing with melodies.

  Anna Netrebko has redefined the meaning of being an opera star. Today’s reigning prima donna routinely headlines major productions at leading opera houses across the globe. She was the first classical musician to be chosen as one of the “Time 100,” Time magazine’s list of the world’s most influential people. With her distinctively beautiful voice, abundant charisma, and arresting stage presence, she makes an indelible impression with each of the roles she portrays.

  Together with her husband Yusif Eyvazov they form a breathtaking couple on stage. Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Eyvazov mastered his professionalism in Italy. Critics call him “an exciting tenor whose pure human voice trained to do exceptional things reaches us in a way that no other sound does…”. His sound is metallic, stentorian and markedly Italianate. Yusif Eyvazov's appearances feature the Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Paris Opera, Staatsoper Berlin, Mariinsky Theatre and others.

  The “Helsingin musiikkitalo” was inaugurated, in 2008, to complement the famous “Finlandia-talo” (Finlandia Talo Hall). While the unsophisticated exterior of the concert hall perfectly merges into the urban surroundings, the spectacular auditorium was inspired by Hans Scharoun's vineyard-style Berlin Philharmonie. Famous Japanese acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota, responsible for the sound concepts of the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, conceived the excellent acoustics of the “Musiikkitalo” that lead to an overwhelming response by the audience.

  The British pianist Stephen Ridley, whose motto is “play the piano like you were playing rock-guitar”, will give a solo performance at Moscow House of Music on 28 October.

  Born in the North of England, Stephen Ridley first took up the piano when he was six years old. In spite of their son’s obvious interest in music, his parents insisted on giving him an education focused on economics, and by the time he was 21 he was already working as a trader in the City of London.

  In October 2011 the future musician came to the realisation that he couldn’t work in an office anymore, and so, remembering his childhood, he went and bought a piano, which he started to play right on the street in the centre of London. A month later he had already released his first album, Butterfly in a Hurricane.

  A journalist from the British London Lifestyle Magazine has written that Ridley’s performance radically alters one’s perception of piano music: “His playing is raw and edgy, and as strange as it may seem, his music is utterly without airs and graces, but great live music shouldn’t be polished, it’s not for sale — instead it should awaken feelings, convey emotion and draw the audience in.”

  The concert was postponed from 12/04/2020 to 10/28/2021. All tickets purchased are valid according to the seats indicated on the tickets.

In der Saison 2018/19 tritt er unter anderem in der Elbphilharmonie auf. Im Jahr 2018 beauftragte das amerikanische Fernsehunternehmen FOX Sports Kirill Richter, das offizielle Musikthema für die Übertragungen der FIFA 2018 Weltmeisterschaft zu komponieren. Diese Komposition “Where Angels Fears to Thread” wurde zur Hymne für das Fernsehpublikum in Nord- und Südamerika. Darüber hinaus komponierte Kirill Soundtracks für mehrere Filme. Am 25.04.2019 erschien das Debütalbum “Chronos”, für das er sich mehrere Jahre Zeit genommen hat.

  Der National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan ist das wichtigste Orchester des Landes und hat seinen Sitz in der Hauptstadt Taschkent. Das Orchester wurde 1938 gegründet und hat im Laufe der Jahre eine beeindruckende Tradition aufgebaut.

  Derzeit wird das Orchester von Alibek Kabdurakhmanov geleitet. Unter seiner Leitung hat das Orchester eine breite Palette von Repertoire aufgeführt, darunter klassische Werke, zeitgenössische Musik und traditionelle usbekische Musik.

  Das Orchester besteht aus erfahrenen Musikern und hat zahlreiche Auszeichnungen und Preise für seine hervorragende Leistung erhalten.

  Alibek Kabdurakhmanov ist einer der herausragendsten Dirigenten Usbekistans. Nach einem Bachelor- und Masterstudium im Fach Perkussion am Staatlichen Konservatorium Usbekistans absolvierte er dort 2019 ein weiteres Masterstudium im Fach Dirigieren.

  Alibek Kabdurakhmanov nahm an den 45. Internationalen Sommerkursen für zeitgenössische akademische Musik in Darmstadt teil, wurde 2009 mit dem Prince Claus Foundation Annual Award in Amsterdam ausgezeichnet und unternahm im selben Jahr eine China-Tournee. Kabdurakhmanov tritt bei bedeutenden Festivals wie dem Internationalen Festival für zeitgenössische Musik „Turbulence“ in Deutschland, dem „Musical Summer Evenings“ (Ukraine) und dem dem International Festival „Euro-Orchestra“ (Frankreich) auf.

  Als Dirigent wurde er unter anderem in Usbekistan mit dem Tasanno-Preis im Bereich Kultur, in Kasachstan mit dem Grand Prix beim Shabyt Internationalen Wettbewerb und in Deutschlang mit dem Sonderpreis beim Internationalen Wettbewerb „EMCY Art for Music Prize“ ausgezeichnet.

  Kabdurakhmanov leitete bereits Orchester wie das National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, das State Academic Symphony Orchestra Almaty (Kasachstan), das Musiktheater-Orchester-Studio am Staatlichen Konservatorium Usbekistans, das Ensemble für zeitgenössische Musik „Omnibus“, das Kurmangazy-Orchester (Kasachstan) und das Jugendsinfonieorchester Usbekistans. Seit 2018 ist er Chefdirigent des Nationalen Sinfonieorchesters Usbekistans.

  Von symphonischen Ballettmusiken und ikonischen TV-Themen bis hin zu ausverkauften Solo- und Ensemble-Live-Auftritten weltweit -  der in Russland geborene Kirill Richter zählt ohne Zweifel zu den charismatischsten und vielseitigsten jungen Interpreten unserer Zeit.   Im Jahr 2018 komponierte Kirill Richter die offizielle Titelmelodie der FIFA-Weltmeisterschaft 2018. Die Partitur mit dem Titel „Where Angels Fears to Tread“ wurde für die Fernsehzuschauer in Nord- und Südamerika zur ultimativen Hymne dieses globalen Sportereignisses. Die Premiere des Stücks fand auf der riesigen Projektionsfläche des Nasdaq Tower am Times Square in New York statt. Zu seinen neuesten Werken gehören Partituren für den Science-Fiction-Blockbuster A Rough Draft, das Drama Jumpman und die Ballette Complexions (San Francisco Ballet, 2021), Seven Ages (Zusammenarbeit mit Marco Goecke - Origen Festival, Schweiz 2023) sowie weitere Produktionen mit der Gauthier Dance Compagnie am Theaterhaus Stuttgart 2023 und dem Ballet de Barcelona.

  Kirill Richter unternimmt ausgedehnte Tourneen sowohl als Solo-Künstler als auch mit seinem eigenen Trio. Zu seinen zahlreichen Auftritten als Headliner gehörten das Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg und das Origen-Festival in der Schweiz sowie Auftritte in Italien, den Niederlanden, Polen, Frankreich und Großbritannien.

  In Düsseldorf präsentiert Kirill Richter mit seinen Trio-Partnern Alena Zinovieva (Violine) und August Krepak (Violoncello) seine brandaktuelle Schöpfung: Die Ballettmusik „SEVEN AGES“.

  Diese entstand aus einer Zusammenarbeit mit dem Ballettchoreografen Marco Goecke und der Solo-Tänzerin Anne Jung und wurde erst in diesem Jahr auf dem Origen-Festival  in der Schweiz uraufgeführt. Sie wurde von einem Monolog aus Shakespeares „Wie es euch gefällt“ inspiriert und beschreibt mit sinnlich greifbaren musikalischen und tänzerischen Gestaltungsmitteln das Mysterium des Lebens, in dessen Verlauf der Mensch zwischen Geburt und Tod sieben Lebensphasen durchläuft – eine klanglich aufregende biografische Zeitreise der besonderen Art !
