He is often compared with Paganini or Hendrix - musicians who changed the minds of listeners, implementing and mastering new possibilities of violin and guitar. Arkhipovsky also created a different style of playing the balalaika, combining authentic styles, guitar skills and his original methods with a revolutionary innovation - the “electrification” of the instrument.
Arkhipovsky is a universal musician, going beyond ordinary style and genre frames. He is a favourite guest at classical, ethnic, folklore and jazz music festivals, as well as at concert venues, the number of which is growing rapidly, both in Russia and abroad. In 2011 the virtuoso was officially registered in the Russian Book of Records in the nomination “The best balalaika player in the world.”
“... Alexey Arkhipovsky always performs in such a powerful way that it’s always beyond belief. Not only his ten-minute étude crossed out all technical tricks shown before him, but he is also undoubtably inventive in music.”
“The balalaika player Alexey Arkhipovsky became a sensation immediately after his first appearance in front of the public. He literally ripped off a guitar (!) festival in the Central House of Arts, when he played a 10-minute solo, demonstrating amazing musi- cal and acting skills. It was a real theatrical play showing dazzling riffs, facial expressions and gestures. Many listeners compared Arkhipovsky to Hendrix himself! ”
