Denis Matsuev is considered one of the most important representatives of the famous Russian piano school. In 2021, the Siberian-born pianist will tour Europe, visiting the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf and the renowned Smetana Hall in Prague. A master of expression, he plays Ludwig van Beethoven's last Piano Sonata No. 32, a composition offering Matsuev the opportunity to demonstrate his fascinating virtuosity, his absolute mastery of sound and his enormous charisma. Liszt's Piano Sonata in B minor, one of the most magnificent piano creations of the 19th century, needs a soloist like Matsuev who can make his instrument sound as variable and opulent as an entire orchestra. Matsuev juxtaposes these two milestones of piano literature with Robert Schumann's Kinderszenen op. 15, a cycle that became exemplary for the entire pianistic romanticism – a concert not to miss!
