Denis Matsuev is considered one of the best pianists in the world. In 2020, the Siberian-born virtuoso will tour through Europe, visiting concert halls such as the Düsseldorf Tonhalle, the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Smetana Hall in Prague, the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden, the Herkulessaal in Munich and Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie. As the most important contemporary representative of the Russian piano school, Matsuev interprets works that are among the most demanding and precious pearls of the piano literature. Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 offers Matsuev the opportunity to demonstrate his virtuosity and mastery of sound. Liszt's Piano Sonata in B minor, one of the most magnificent piano creations of the Romantic period, needs a pianist like Matsuev, who can make his instrument sound as variable and opulent as an entire orchestra.
The renowned Rachmaninov expert also interprets the Corelli-Variations, the composer's last large-scale work, and plays Tchaikovsky's Meditation – definitely the piano event of the year!
